Norman Court School food is deliciously popular. Chef Mo's green Monster cake is always in demand and the children aren't fussy as they are presented with such a variety of fresh, healthy and tempting meals. We know that eating is a vital part of school life for social reasons as much as health, as the excited chatter from the dining rooms bears out.  Our menus are regularly changed to suit the season, and we encourage input from pupils at the monthly school council meeting. Clearly this is tempered with a certain amount of realism, as otherwise burger & chips would be a daily occurance!

The most important meal of the day is breakfast.  There is a daily hot choice such as crumpet & poached egg or the current favourite, pain au chocolat, to go along with a selection of cereals, toast & jam and fruit juice.

At lunchtimes there is a choice of 2 hot meat dishes, a vegetarian option and  salad.

There is also a pudding of the day, sometimes hot, sometimes cold. We pride ourselves in hiding fruit or vegetables in our puddings and one of our most popular puddings is “ Mo's Green Monster Cake”

which contains courgettes. This is a variation of a carrot cake recipe and was named after its creator Maureen Lockyer who has been a chef at the school for thirty five years! Other favourites include birdseed, apricot crunch, banoffee pie and chocolate bread & butter pudding.

On our Salad Bar we offer a varied selection of honey roast ham, tuna, eggs, cheese, quiche & vegetarian terrines to go with salads like classic coleslaw, tomato & watercress, cold roasted vegetables and oriental mushroom salad.  And of course lettuce, tomato & cucumber!

Suppers tend to be on the lighter side but no less nutritious. Bacon & cream cheese bagels, meatballs and pasta and turkey korma are favourites. Salad and fruit are also available. A treat is produced nightly for the boarders.

MATCH TEAS

People come from far & wide not just for the competitive matches but for our  match teas.

For the children, after a hectic sports session we offer healthy hot filled jacket potatoes or pasta bakes high in carbohydrates, followed by a fruit bar and plenty of liquid refreshment.

For the parents, match teas are a chance to mingle with others, meet new friends and enjoy a vast variety of filled sandwiches and a selection of homemade cakes to console the losers.
