Supporting the curriculum in Main School

Learning Support

“Support for pupils with learning difficulties or disabilities is outstanding, particularly in withdrawal sessions. As a result, these pupils' achievements are often good. Their needs are identified effectively from an early age.”(ISI Inspection Report 2007)

We have an outstanding record for the identification, provision and management of children with special learning needs. Support covers areas of literacy, numeracy, speech and language, motor skills, study skills as well as provision for the gifted and talented.

Children are encouraged to make progress by our talented, experienced, enthusiastic team of teachers. Our flexible approach addresses individual needs through 1-1, group teaching or in class support.

Children learn at different rates and in different ways. Many factors affect achievement – our aim is to provide learning and teaching contexts which enable each child to move forwards with confidence.

The joy on the face of a child as they realise “I can really do this” is testimony to the success of the department.

“The maths puzzles are enjoyable, give you a challenge and make you think”
