The Main School

Creative artThe first two years in the main school - from 7-plus - are form based in the Junior Department. Children entering from the Pre-Preparatory School transfer at the end of Year 2, although children from many other schools are integrated into Norman Court at all stages.

Pupils are taught by specialist form or subject teacher.

The broad curriculum combines the core subjects of English, mathematics and science, with history, geography, religious studies, art, music, drama and PE. There is also excellent provision for European languages and information technology, which are seen as essential skills in the modern community.

Most pupils study French, and many from Year 6 learn Spanish as well. All children study science from 9-plus in a fully equipped modern laboratory. Information technology, Art and CDT are taught in specialist rooms.

Learning about scienceMusic is an integral part of the curriculum with expert peripatetic staff teaching a wide variety of instruments ranging from violin to electronic keyboard.

Norman Court has an excellent choir, an orchestra and other ensembles.

Drama is an important part of school life, and Pre-prep and main school produce a variety of impressive productions each year.

Information technology and computer skillsAt Norman Court we aspire to teach games and sport to the highest standard.

We have superb facilities including a Sports Hall, and first class pitches for cricket, netball, rugby, hockey, football, rounders and athletics.

There is a heated outdoor swimming pool, squash, tennis courts and athletics track.

Children also have the opportunity to go on organised trips abroad. Take a look at this skiing trip and visit to France.
