Pre-Preparatory Education

Pre-prep childrenThe Pre-Preparatory Department has always been an extremely popular and flourishing establishment, based in its own woodland setting, whilst benefiting from close proximity to the main building facilities.

As a result the school has Forest School status with staff trained to provide a Forest School curriculum.

It has proved to be highly attractive to parents as a result of the high standard of teaching, care, motivation and management of young children.

The department caters for boys and girls between the ages of 3 – 7 years with provision for full or part-time nursery school education.

Well-established links with the Junior Department allow children to make the transition from the Pre-Prep to Main School at the age of 7.

The ethos is one of developing every child at his or her own pace and according to individual needs. Class sizes are small enough to provide excellent pupil teacher interaction.

Early years infantsThe 3-5 year olds follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum with French and I.T. beginning from the age of 3. Swimming takes place from the age of 5.

Children utilise the school grounds and visit local farms, museums and places of interest.

At Key Stage 1 (6 – 7 years) the children follow all aspects of the National Curriculum - English, Mathematics, Science, French, Art, Information Technology and Design Technology, Geography, History, Music, R.E and P.E including Dance, Gym, Team games and Swimming.

The pre-preparatory department runs its own clubs and activities from the age of 5 including tennis, cooking, football, ballet, choir, chess, lego, gardening and art and crafts.
